Hand Made cards crafted on the wild edge of Beautiful British Columbia

Simply Irresistible!

Welcome back! This week, I chose to do the Irresistible Inking Techniques class with Sarah Naumann. I will admit, I have done a lot of different ink blending techniques over the years and I STILL learned something.

Sarah goes over a lot of different techniques for using your various inks (HINT: They’re not just for stamping) which helps to stretch our crafting budget, and that’s always a good thing!

My first card incorporated a lot of the techniques taught in the 4 lessons.

For the top focal layer, I stamped Altenew Fresh Dye Ink – Blush using one of my stamping blocks. I used the Hennah Elements stamp set for the focal point and heat embossed the flower with black embossing powder. I created a mask for the flower and then added the leaves to the design. I did not heat emboss the leaves. I then painted the flower using Altenew Fresh Ink – Rouge and painted the leaves with Forest Glades.

The pink mat you see is using the “direct to paper” method, again using Blush. For the larger green background, it was done with Forest Glades and a touch of Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide using a brayer. I also used the direct to paper method to ink the edges of some of the cardstock. The sentiment is from a Spellbinders Glimmer set.

I foam mounted the focal piece after I double matted it with the pink and then a plain green cardstock. I used some jute twine to make an accent piece before mounting on the larger brayered piece. The whole thing is mounted on a kraft card base.

The second card was a little simpler. I painted the Altenew Japanese Anemone with Crisp Dye ink in Lavender Fields and Deep Iris while the leaves and stems were in Forest Glades. I used a little Distress Oxide Scattered Straw for the center of the flowers.

I mounted a piece of patterned vellum on a pale lavender cardstock, which was then mounted on a dark purple cardstock. The card base is 5 x 6.5″ .

I finished it off with some gorgeous lavender jewels from Pink Fresh, which I also popped into the center of the flowers. The sentiment is from the Altenew Vertical Greetings set.

It was a great class and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Only one more class to go in Level 1!

Let me know your thoughts. Have a fantastic week!
